Malaysia (PRWEB) February 27, 2008 -- The newly renovated Kinabalu Wing at Shangri-La's Tanjung Aru Resort, Kota Kinabalu is designed to celebrate its special location on the East coast of Borneo.

The RM25 million (USD7.58) renovation, led by Singapore-based designer Wong Chiu Man of Warner Wong Pte. Ltd., blends the contemporary with the exotic. Textures, patterns and colours are inspired by the surrounding tropical forest and ocean as well as native Sabahn heritage: from turquoise fabrics that echo South China Sea hues to teak, ebony and coconut woods; from woven rattan furniture to bright, botanical-coloured cushions.

The 242 guestrooms and suites, measuring 45 to 168 square metres, are now bathed in natural light. The new guestroom layout provides views of the South China Sea or Mt. Kinabalu from every room, without guests even stepping out of bed. The vistas can also be enjoyed from each guestroom balcony. Deluxe suites have large windows framing ocean views and sunsets.

The Kinabalu Club occupies the top 5th and 6th floor of the wing, and features a comfortable lounge with dedicated concierge, offering complimentary hors d'oeuvres and beverages in the afternoon and evening, and guests can also now take their refreshments to enjoy on an open-air rooftop garden.

The five-star, 495-room Shangri-La's Tanjung Aru Resort and Spa, is located on 25 acres of lush greenery just 10 minutes from Kota Kinabalu International Airport, city centre and five coral islands. It has seven restaurants and bars wide range of recreational facilities and CHI, The Spa.
