The California-based law firm of Clapper, Patti, Schweizer & Mason have recently settled the case of a Washington pipe fitter for more than $1,000,000.00, with additional compensation pending. The pipe fitter, age 70, worked from 1959 to 1992 in Port Angeles, Washington, in a now defunct pulp mill. He was diagnosed with mesothelioma, a fatal form of cancer that is caused by exposure to asbestos, in November of 1996. Mesothelioma, is a deadly disease that often is not diagnosed for up to 20 years after exposure.
