Franchise Opportunity Among California Businesses Sold Last Week
San Ramon, CA (PRWeb) February 1, 2007 -- A franchise opportunity with a knockout cash flow sold in California last week on BizBen.com. Two women turned a Dream Dinners franchise into a very profitable business. They netted $160,000 in just a year. With help from California business broker Joan Young, they sold the franchise for 98% of the asking price.
The amazing part of this success story is the hours worked. Many new business owners can expect to work very long hours, seven days a week. They may still not turn a profit in the first year. This business was an exception. "The business partners didn't work horrible hours, they put in 45 hours a week between them," notes Young.
There were two other offers on the business. One potential buyer wasn't cut out to buy a franchise opportunity. The other decided on their attorney's advice that there wasn't a long enough track record for the business.
The buyers who completed the sale were looking for a business that was priced well and profitable. The franchise was bought by three women, including a mother and her daughter - a 22 year old. They decided to name their entity Kitchen Goddesses, LLC.
Meal prep franchises are geared to busy moms who want to give their families quality meals but don't have time to cook. Young said a combination of things made the sale. That included a location in a growing area and good customer service. Around eighty percent of mothers in the Bay Area work outside the home, so there is a strong potential customer base.
Although it is the food business, the meal prep industry is less time intensive than owning a restaurant. The owners schedule times people come to assemble pre-ordered meals. That means there is almost no food wasted and the owners can order only what is needed. They had Mondays off and worked in shifts.
The food prep franchise was one of 371 California businesses sold by business owners of small businesses, business brokers, & real estate agents for the week of January 22, 2007 through
January 28, 2007.
California businesses sold, including this franchise opportunity, listed by County include:
Alameda County: 10, Amador County: 1, Butte County: 2, Contra Costa County: 13, Fresno County: 5, Kern County: 15, Lake County: 1, Los Angeles County: 77, Marin County: 5, Merced County: 2, Nevada County: 4, Orange County: 69, Placer County: 5, Riverside County: 16, Sacramento County: 10, San Bernardino County: 22, San Diego County: 25, San Francisco County: 8, San Joaquin County: 3, San Luis Obispo County: 7, San Mateo County: 5, Santa Barbara County: 2, Santa Clara County: 28, Santa Cruz County: 4, Sierra County: 1, Siskiyou County: 1, Solano County: 5, Sonoma County: 9, Stanislaus County: 5, Tuolumne County: 1, Ventura County: 1, Yolo County: 1.
